Ivysaur is the deity of Victala City and I needed a picture of it in the Celestite Diary, but a regular Ivysaur is to plain. This is a special Ivysaur and as such I thought it fair to give it a bit of a makeover. So I made a single triangle on it's forehead and made vine-looking markings all over it's body. Colors are basically the same minus the eyes so it's not a complete overhaul.

This piece is very nice in general... The added swirl pattern and the forehead triangle add very much detail for how simple they are (I know the triangle is already there, but here it is more of a feature than just a pattern, and it definitely stands out more). The shading is nice all around, especially the leaves. However, lack of detail on the flower and leaves makes the flower on its back looks terribly plain in contrast to the body, although the leaves still look okay. It would look better with some pattern or something new on the flower, and perhaps on the leaves as well. One thing I think you pulled off really well, however, is the eyes. The very sharp triangular shape matches the triangle on the forehead well, and the eye color is very nice, too, as the original red is somewhat devilish, and this is supposed to be a holy Ivysaur, after all. To sum it up: Really cool and creative piece with fantastic changes, but lack of detail on the flower and leaves just doesn't look right.
Very Good. The lines have a very intriguing design; the way they swirl along the Ivysaur's body is quite appealing to the eye. They could use some depth; maybe if they went in like grooves or popped out like vines... the colors are strong, but they could be sharper, with deeper values and brighter highlights. My only major complaint (and this is really just me nitpicking) is the eyes; for all their details they kinda look too anime-ish. Yeah, I know Pokemon is an anime, and it's closer to what Ivysaur looks like, but I just feel like it would look better with a more animalistic glint; perhaps a regal one or a babe-in-the-woods type. Overall, it's a nicely done piece.
it's not that, it looks like the placing of highlights is fine, but in the flower on it's back, there are 3 distinct sections of color. However, they are blurred in between, like you used an airbrush tool? This looks sort of messy. It also happens in the leaves. Also, the shading of the flower doesn't follow the lineart at all, it just goes straight across it, lending it no shape. The eyes came out very well, though, and the lineart itself is pretty clean.
