My Opinion: Its like as if you rely too much on the effects instead of the 2-D sprites themselves that makes up the map.

I don't know about that, the tiles used in the map are creative and well done and the map has an interesting shape and isn't to square or empty. But as you said, it's your opinion so that's fine. :)
